“The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.” — Colin R. Davis

You can’t actually know if any road you’re on in life will lead to success or failure. You cannot know how a new business will perform, how well you’ll do at a new job, or how long a new relationship will last. As Colin R. Davis said, “The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.” To have any chance at success in life, you have to be willing to take chances, make mistakes along the way, and to start the journey despite all of the uncertainty.

Think of it like a single coin toss. You have two options: Heads or tails. Whether you choose one side or or the other is up to you, even if winning is not; your chances are 50/50, and so are the other person’s. And, win or lose, nobody can discover the result without first flipping the coin. Even if you can’t predict the outcome, the path to whatever that outcome is will be exactly the same for everyone involved. There are no shortcuts.

Life presents more than just two choices providing many more avenues to success. At times you may think that, despite all your efforts, the road you’re on in life is one doomed to failure. After all, success can look a lot like failure at first and the failures are where we learn our greatest lessons and develop what’s needed to press on. Everything we experience on the journey is what is required to be successful and to stay the course for just a little bit longer. Keep flipping that coin to see where the road takes you. Good Luck!
